It asks a sharper question than which algorithm a protocol uses: who is authorized to propose, attest, finalize, govern, and change the ledger? Technical ancestry and institutional authority are mapped together so shifts in control remain visible across consensus families.

The central finding is bounded but consequential: technical genealogy and institutional morphology overlap, yet do not coincide. Reading both at a dated, maturity-qualified configuration reveals authority shifts that mechanism-only taxonomies miss.
