The Sensors 2023 paper proposes an evolutionary-phylogeny approach for classifying blockchain consensus algorithms. The Electronics 2021 paper tackles PoW scalability through block-interval process improvement, including the security tradeoffs that follow from shortening the interval.

Together, the work presents consensus as a lineage and design space that can be classified, compared, and improved rather than as a list of blockchain buzzwords.
